Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy of love, race and jealousy toured to 19 venues across the North, culminating in an extended run at the Assembly Rooms, Durham as the Second Durham Shakespeare Festival.

The Alnwick Playhouse – the Arts Centre, Washington – the Assembly Rooms, Durham – Bishop Auckland Town Hall – the Blackhall Community Centre – the Carriage Works, Leeds – the Civic Gosforth – the Dukes, Lancaster – Edgehill Arts Centre, Ormskirk – the Empire, Consett – the Maltings, Berwick – the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond – the John Marley Centre Newcastle – the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Yarm – Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham – Seventeen Nineteen, Sunderland – Theatre 41, York – Ushaw House – the Witham, Barnard Castle.
Set during the War On Terror years of Bush and Obama, ‘Othello’ sold out across most of its venues and was seen by 36 schools and youth groups. It was supported by a fully comprehensive Engagement plan, supplementing our ‘Shakespeare For All’ programme with free & discount tickets and transport for premium schools.
